During the last month, P & I have welcomed two new apprentices to the office team. On Monday 15th May, we welcomed Hayley Laurence as our business administration apprentice and then on Monday 12th June, Nathan Jackett joined the service team as service control apprentice.

Both Hayley and Nathan were employed via P & I’s apprenticeship partner, PETA. PETA Ltd is a Hampshire-based training organisation set up in 1970 and is owned by over 330 member companies including Portsmouth Water, Stannah Stairlifts, Wightlink, Portsmouth International Port, Kenwood, Airbus, Boeing and many others.

Hayley and Nathan will be completing the Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship provided by PETA. Alongside on the job training, they will also attend PETA’s Business Training Centre located in central Portsmouth where they will undertake the classroom-based part of the apprenticeship. During their time at P & I, Hayley and Nathan will receive plenty of support and guidance from both our internal training team including their line managers and their dedicated PETA mentor.

Dean Curry, Trainer Assessor within Business Training at PETA Ltd, commented:

“I have recently started working with P & I as the Trainer Assessor for their two new Level 3 Business Administration Apprentices and I have to say that first impressions of the business and the apprentices themselves have been very good. The company’s new site provides a really modern professional environment for the apprentices to work in and all the management team I have dealt with have been supportive and keen to help. The same can be said for both Hayley and Nathan who have joined the apprenticeship with a positive attitude and what seems to be an enthusiasm to make the most of the opportunity given to them.”

Alan Blair, P & I’s Operations Director, commented:

“P & I passionately believe in investing in the next generation of our workforce. Under the leadership and guidance of their line managers, Hayley and Nathan will be real assets to the company. Apprenticeships are a great career and learning opportunity for anyone looking to earn and learn at the same time. I wish them every success with their apprenticeships and I look forward to seeing them progress through the company.”
