During the month of November, a team of P & I staff took on the challenge of growing a moustache to raise funds for the Movember Foundation. Appearing in the office on Wednesday 1st November completely clean shaven, the month saw some inspiring efforts from the team.
The Movember Foundation began in 2003 and has become a leading charity in tackling men’s health. The charity addresses some of the biggest health issues facing men including prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention. Having funded more than 1,200 men’s health projects around the world, the foundation’s aim is to reduce the number of men dying prematurely by 25% by 2030.
Over the month, we have managed to raise over £500 through the support of family, friends, colleagues and suppliers, with donations still coming in. It wouldn’t have been possible to raise so much money, if it wasn’t for Paul, Ashley, Alan, Bradley and Nathan and their valiant efforts in growing some impressive facial hair. Therefore, a big thank you must go to them for taking part and putting up with the banter that came along with it.
Having posed the question to our social media followers, it was decided that project manager, Alan Houghton, won ‘Best Moustache’. Unfortunately, we couldn’t convince Alan to keep his moustache for his holiday to America, even though we offered to buy him a cowboy hat!
We would like to thank everyone who has sponsored our team and helped us exceed our target of £500. By taking part in Movember, we hope we can help raise awareness about men’s health, raise some money for a great cause and have fun whilst we do it.
Our fundraising page will stay open until the end of the year so if you would like to sponsor our team, please visit P & I’s Movember Fundraising Page. Once we have a final total, we will share this on our social media channels so make sure you keep an eye out!
Below, we have put together a variety of photographs taken throughout the month of our team.
